Whole Wheat Breadsticks (Zojirushi Home Bakery Virtuoso Plus Breadmaker & Gourmia French Door XL Digital Air Fryer Oven Recipe)

Ingredients:

Dough:

1 & 1/2 Cups Whole Milk (If using powdered milk, mix 1 & 1/2 cups water with 6 Tbs whole milk powder. They are fluffier when you use 1&1/2 cups, than when using just 1&1/4 cups.)
1 Large Egg, beaten
3 Cups Whole Wheat Flour, finely ground
1/2 cup Vital Wheat Gluten
4 Tbs Sugar substitute or sugar, or 1.5 tsp organic monk fruit extract powder
2 tsp Salt
2.5 Tbs softened Butter
2 tsp Rapid rise or Bread Machine yeast

Topping:

Water to spray on.
Ground Cinnamon, or other seasoning of choice

Instructions:

  1. Add the dough ingredients to the bake pan in the exact order listed above.
    1. After adding the flour, the other ingredients go on the two far side walls.
    2. Ensure the vital wheat gluten is added in around all the edges of the bake pan.
    3. Make a small shallow well in the middle of the flour and add the yeast in it.
  2. Use the 2-pound dough settings for your bread machine.
  3. Press Start
  4. Once the dough is finished, cut it into 4 pieces
  5. Roll the 4 pieces out flat as 4 rectangles, and cover them with paper towels. Let them rest for about 20 minutes.
  6. Cut the dough into 1/2 inch strips, about 30-40 long strips.
  7. Roll the strips lengthwise, to be like ropes.
  8. Line the bake pan with parchment paper.
  9. Also, line the air fry basket with parchment paper.
  10. Put the ropes of dough onto the parchment paper lined bake pan and air fry basket.
  11. Spray water over the dough.
  12. Sprinkle on seasoning(s).
  13. Set the cooker to Bake 375° F., 19 minutes.
  14. Press Start to begin preheating.
  15. Once preheating is finished, add the parchment paper lined bake pan to an upper middle rack level.
  16. Put the parchment paper lined air fry basket on a rack level 2 levels below the bake pan.
  17. After 14 minutes, remove the bake pan. And move the air fry basket up to where the bake pan was.
  18. Allow the cook time to complete.
  19. Enjoy!
