Box Cake Recipe, Duncan Hines Signature Fudge Marble Cake (NuWave Oven Recipe)

Ingredients:

As instructed on the box:

Duncan Hines Signature Fudge Marble Cake mix.
1 cup water
1/3 cup oil (I used canola oil)
3 eggs  (I used large eggs)

Instructions:

  1. You’ll need 2 round 9″ cake pans.  Pans with good non-stick coating and spray them with no-stick cooking spray, then lightly flour the pans.
  2. As instructed on the box, mix all the ingredients with a blender, first on low speed 30 seconds, then on medium for 2 minutes.  Don’t blend too long or you’ll make it too thick.  (But if you make it too thick, don’t worry much, because you can still cook it.)
  3. Pour one cup of the batter into a small mixing bowl or an extra large measuring cup that has lots of room to spare after a cup of batter is added.
  4. Pour the remaining cake batter into the cake pans.  Split it between the 2 pans evenly.
  5. Blend the contents of the cocoa mix packet into the cup of batter in the small mixing bowl or extra large measuring cup.  I used a spoon to do this.
  6. Then spoon the cocoa + batter mixture onto the batter in the pans.
  7. Swirl the cocoa + batter mixture into the batter in the pan.  You can use a knife to do this, I used the same spoon.
  8. Place one pan with mix on the 1″ rack.  Put the other pan into the refrigerator to cook 2nd.
  9. Heat at high power for 25 minutes.  Portions of the top may grow and split.  Use a toothpick to check whether the inside is fully cooked.  Be sure to check the middle areas and inside areas where the top split.
  10. Remove the first pan from the NuWave Oven and set aside to cool for 1 hour.  I placed the 4″ rack on a cool counter.
  11. While the first pan is cooling, take the 2nd pan from the refrigerator and place it on the 1″ rack of the NuWave Oven.
  12. Heat at high power for 25 minutes.  Portions of the top may grow and split.  Use a toothpick to check whether the inside is fully cooked.  Be sure to check the middle areas and inside areas where the top split.
  13. Remove the 2nd pan from the oven and set aside to cool for 1 hour.
  14. Once cooled, you can apply icing to both and stack them as a 2 layered cake.
  15. Enjoy!
